Will Durant was right when he said, “We are what we repeatedly do.” Habits, rituals, routines and behaviours are reinforced by repetition.

Your habits (both good and bad) are defining your trajectory in life. They define your results and outcomes. If you don’t like your present life, some bad habits are probably standing in your way.

Winners, efficient people, high performers, highly productive people, and those who keep climbing the success ladder do things differently. They accumulate good habits over time and build systems that encourage good behaviours.

“Practice makes permanent, not perfect. Bad habits are the result of diligently training the wrong things,” says Justin Kan, host of The Quest Pod. These bad habits can interrupt your best life — they waste your time, resources and energy. For every bad habit on this list, find a good habit to replace it.

  1. Not taking stress or burnout seriously.
  2. Starting your day without a concrete or actionable plan.
  3. Focusing on short term outcomes instead of a consistent process.
  4. Saying yes to too many things you hate doing.
