A Simple Reading Habit That Makes a Great Difference
Do you have to finish every book you start?
I read a lot. It’s a habit I’ve developed over the years. Also, reading informs what I write. Reading and writing help me think better.
Reading is thinking outside your comfort zone. It forces you to learn someone else’s idea, assumptions, opinions and principles.
It’s an opportunity to learn from experts of all backgrounds. And people with amazing stories to share.
Many of us like to read more books. We want to get the best ideas out of your selected books without wasting time.
I appreciate deep reading, so I make time to read slowly. I hardly skim great books. Sometimes I reread books packed with great insight, like Principles: Life and Work by Ray Dalio, The Almanack of Naval Ravikant: A Guide to Wealth and Happiness by Eric Jorgenson and Great Thinkers: Simple Tools from 60 Great Thinkers to Improve Your Life Today, by The School of Life.
Pick books you will deeply enjoy and give yourself permission to quit bad books
Francis Bacon was right. “Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.”
