Quitting is productive.

If something doesn’t work, let it go. It applies in life and at work.

I recently launched a new Substack for building a personal monopoly online. I quit four weeks after I turned on the paid version. Subscribers paid for weekly lessons. But it wasn’t worth the time. At least not yet. But it doesn’t mean I’ve stopped experimenting with online projects.

Quit for the right reasons.

“Numerous studies have found that people who let go of something they haven’t been able to achieve benefit from better health and well-being. But those who keep battling towards a goal that remains stubbornly out of reach experience more distress and depression,” writes Amanda Ruggeri of The BBC.

Sometimes, our best life requires the courageous act of quitting, of letting go of what doesn’t work, however comfortable or familiar it may feel.

Holding onto a dead-end project, habits, routines, and rituals is a massive waste of time. Stubbornly pursuing unrealistic goals is a detour to a place of regret. It only leads to frustration and a distorted sense of self-worth.
