Everyone wants to be able to optimise their day-to-day tasks and prioritise their goals to become more productive.

A well-crafted routine is essential for achieving optimal health, productivity and well-being. Designing a personal routine is vital to achieving greater productivity.

An optimal routine can help reduce stress and increase productivity, improving overall well-being. It can help you manage time, stay organised, and reduce stress.

But how do you design a personal routine that works for you?

Brad Stulberg, a writer on human performance, well-being, and sustainable success and co-author of the bestselling book Peak Performance, argues that self-awareness is critical to an optimal routine.

He explains: “The bottom line is that the only way to an optimal routine is through astute self-awareness — not mimicking what other people do — and experimentation. The more you can match your activities to your energy levels, the better. The more you can figure out which types of environments stimulate your best work, the better.”

In self-awareness, you learn what works for you

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” ― C.G. Jung

Self-awareness helps you understand your habits, tendencies, and preferences, informing your decision-making as you build a routine.

What works for Tony Robins may not work for you — finding an optimal routine is a process that may require patience and flexibility.

Self-awareness is the process of becoming aware of your own thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and understanding how they impact you and others.

By becoming more self-aware, you can gain insight into what works well for you and what doesn’t and make informed decisions about how to build an optimal routine.

For example, if you learn that you are most productive in the morning, you may choose to schedule your most important tasks for that time of day.
