Kevin Kelly Is Right, “About 99% of The Time, The Right Time is Right Now”
Perfect timing is a trap
Kevin Kelly has been writing a list of unsolicited advice on his birthday in recent years. In this piece, he said (among other 102 bits of wisdom), “About 99% of the time, the right time is right now.”
I couldn’t agree more. Most people waste a massive chunk of their lives waiting for perfect timing. It’s a tragic mindset that can sabotage your progress.
Time is incredibly finite. You can’t afford to sit on the fence and wait for a rainy day. Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever. You already know that, but we waste and abuse time for some unexplainable reason.
“It is not that we have a short space of time, but that we waste much of it. Life is long enough, and it has been given in sufficiently generous measure to allow the accomplishment of the very greatest things if the whole of it is well invested,” says Seneca, a Roman philosopher in his book, On the Shortness of Life.
The right time to do anything is right now because tomorrow might come a little too late, not to mention the fact that there’ll be no tomorrow if we fail to act today.
