Life is a Series of Eternal ‘Nows’
Make the most of the endless succession of present time
If you’re like most people, you spend a lot of time living in the past or the future. You might dwell on a past mistake or worry about what will happen tomorrow. But the truth is, whether you’re ready for it or not, life is happening right now, with or without your consent.
Life is a series of present moments, each one a new ‘now’. It’s made up of moments, not years. Make each one count by learning from your mistakes, growing from your experiences and remembering why you wanted this life in the first place!
The concept of the ‘eternal now” is a philosophical idea that has been around for centuries. It’s the idea that the present moment is all that exists and that the past and future are illusions.
According to the philosopher Martin Heidegger, life is an endless succession of ‘nows’. Each new moment represents a chance to choose between different courses of action; if we fail to respond appropriately, we will inevitably end up following a path that is no longer in our best interests.
If we are skillful enough, our daily actions will not lead to total disaster; but if we are not careful, it could result in a painful fall from grace. While everyday life’s challenges are always with us, we must…
