The Most Important Proof You’re Not Levelling Up In Life
Learn from everyone, everywhere. Ditch the autopilot life. Own your self-evolution. A great life depends on it
I use a few questions every year to measure my life. “A prudent question is one-half of wisdom,” says philosopher Francis Bacon. I ask myself: “If I repeat the same habits, rituals and routines, will I become a better or worse version of myself in the next 365 days? I reflect on how far I’ve come. I then review my present habits and how they are serving me. I add and subtract based on the results.
Philosopher and author Alain de Botton’s quote is my mantra for levelling up: “Anyone who isn’t embarrassed of who they were last year probably isn’t learning enough.”
My light bulb moment is when I realise my past self held outdated beliefs, made questionable choices, or lacked the knowledge I possess now. That feeling, though unpleasant, is a powerful indicator of how far I’ve come. It signifies I’ve evolved, and my perspective has shifted. Self-awareness helps me seek knowledge and experiences that will help me grow in specific areas of life.
