The Valley of Despair Is Temporary: When Life Is Not Going Well, Keep Going
Life is a series of peaks and valleys
In the vast landscape of existence, you can find yourself immersed in darkness, uncertainty, and emotional turmoil.
However, from a hopeful perspective, it is crucial to understand that this valley is merely a transitory phase in the larger journey of life.
Life is an ever-changing and dynamic process characterised by the ebb and flow of experiences.
“Everything flows, and nothing stands still,” says Heraclitus, a Greek pre-Socratic philosopher.
He believed everything is in a state of continual becoming, where what once was will no longer be, and what is not yet will come into being.
He compared reality to a flowing river, saying you can never step into the same river twice because the water constantly changes.
The river’s flow represents the ceaseless movement and transformation that Heraclitus saw as inherent in the nature of reality.
“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river, and he’s not the same man,” Heraclitus said.
The easiest way to go through life is to let life go through you.
