Contrary to the famous adage, “time is money,” I propose a mindset shift: time is not merely a means to accumulate wealth but a priceless asset in its own right. Time possesses an inherent significance that extends beyond financial gains.

It allows us to experience, learn, connect, and grow.

“Nothing less than our health and happiness depends on reversing the innate notion that time is money,” says Ashley Whillans, professor at Harvard Business School and a leading voice in time and happiness.

“Time is money” suggests that time should be equated solely with its economic worth as if it were a tradable commodity. However, this perspective fails to capture the multifaceted nature of time and the immeasurable value it holds in our lives.

Time is not a resource that can be earned, saved, or spent like money. It’s an intangible and finite asset that continuously flows forward, indifferent to our attempts to control or manipulate it.

In essence, time is the fabric of life itself. It is the essence that weaves our experiences, relationships, personal growth, and impact on the world. While money has its place in our society, it is time that holds the most accurate and most profound value.
