Time Is Ruthless. Don’t Postpone Meaningful Life
“Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong is its current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away.” — Marcus Aurelius
Time is an elusive concept that has puzzled philosophers for centuries. It’s an essential aspect of our experience of the world, allowing us to measure the duration of events and coherently order our lives.
But it’s also a source of anxiety and fear, as it seems to be constantly slipping away from us, never to return.
Despite its importance, its often viewed as a ruthless force constantly working against us. This perception is rooted in the fact that time is fleeting, and once it passes, it can never be regained.
Life is indeed shorter than our perception of it.
When we confront our mortality, we are forced to confront the fact that we will not always be here.
This can be a difficult realisation, but it can also be liberating.
It allows us to let go of the trivial things that often occupy our time and focus on what truly matters.
