Elon Musk was a massive fan of science fiction when he was a child.

Isaac Asimov’s Foundation classic sci-fi books changed his perception about civilization outside earth.

“The lesson I drew from [the “Foundation” saga] is you should try to take the set of actions that are likely to prolong civilization, minimize the probability of a dark age and reduce the length of a dark age if there is one,” Musk said in an interview with the Rolling Stone in 2017.

Inspiration alone is not enough to acquire the right knowledge for life or career, but it motivated Elon Musk to pursue his wildest dreams relentlessly.

His love of books inspired him to design “cleaner energy technology or [build] spaceships to extend the human species’s reach” in the future, says Ashlee Vance, the author of “Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future.”

In a recent tweet (Feb 20, 2020), Musk recommended Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series to his followers.

Musk was once asked how he learned so much about building rockets; he said, “I read a lot of books.”

Reading the right books can inspire creativity in extraordinary ways. It can also help you gather the right wisdom…
